Editorial & Review Policy

Our standards
Every article is written by a named human author, checked against primary sources, and reviewed by an editor before publication. We do not publish AI-generated articles under a human byline.
How we weigh evidence
We rank sources roughly in this order, and we tell you which we're relying on:
- Systematic reviews and meta-analyses of randomised controlled trials.
- Individual randomised controlled trials.
- Large, long-running observational cohort studies.
- Guidance from major health bodies.
- Mechanistic and animal studies — which we treat as hypothesis, never as proof.
A single study is a data point, not a headline. When the evidence is thin, mixed or contested, we say so rather than picking the exciting side.
What we will not do
- We do not promote detoxes, cleanses, elimination diets without a diagnosis, or any product claiming to cure disease.
- We do not use before-and-after photos, calorie shaming, or language that frames food as moral.
- We do not accept payment to recommend a supplement, a brand or a diet. Not ever.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and say so, with the date, at the foot of the article. Report an error at [email protected].
Independence
Advertisers and affiliate partners never see articles before publication and cannot request changes or removals. Sponsored content, should we ever publish it, will be labelled as such on the page.
Updates
Nutrition guidance moves. We review our articles at least annually and update the "last updated" date when we revise them.
